HALTON HILLS, ON – Following a series of break ins, Ward 2 Councillors have initiated a joint public meeting with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) to discuss crime prevention with rural residents.
The meeting will be held on April 17 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Acton Arena, 415 Queen Street East and includes a presentation from the HRPS with tips on preventing crime. Residents will also have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with officers to discuss their specific issues.
Local and Regional Councillor Clark Somerville notes that “This meeting comes as a result of recent discussions with my fellow Ward 2 Councillors Jason Brass and Joseph Racinsky. We recognize that the rural area presents unique challenges when it comes to crime prevention and I am delighted that our Halton police are so engaged with supporting our community.”
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of those we serve,” said Superintendent Cole Repta, Commander of 1 District, Milton and Halton Hills. “We look forward to meeting with residents to not only share information on our ongoing efforts to combat and prevent crime but to continue working closely with them to ensure all of Halton remains as safe tomorrow as it is today.”
