UPDATE: Arrest Made Following Investigation into Shots Fired in Georgetown The Halton Regional Police Service has made an arrest in connection with a shooting that took place February 26, 2019 in Georgetown. After investigation, police have identified Juvonte Hylton (22) of Mississauga as the person responsible for the shooting. He was arrested on March 12, 2019 and held for a bail hearing. Hylton has been charged with the following: Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose Fail to comply with recognizance Discharge firearm - recklessness Possession of a controlled substance Police believe the victim and their residence were targeted by the accused. Please be reminded that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. ****Update 1**** Shortly before 4:00 pm on February 26, 2019, Halton Regional Police Service uniform officers, Tactical Rescue Unit and Canine Unit responded to a report of shots being fired at a residence on Garrison Square in Georgetown. On arrival, police located several shell casings near a home on Garrison Square. There have been no reports of injuries in relation to this incident. Witnesses report a suspect fled the area in a white or silver, newer model Honda Accord or Hyundai, direction of travel unknown. The suspect is described as male, approximately 5'9", wearing a dark grey hoodie with possibly a darker coloured jacket. The suspect was seen with a black handgun. A responsible party has yet to be identified, no weapon has been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing. There is no known, ongoing, related threat to public safety at this time. Any witnesses, anyone with information regarding this incident and/or anyone with video that may have captured the area between 3:45 pm and 4:05 pm are asked to call Halton Police at 905-825-4777 or 905-825-4747 or to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-824-4777 ext. 2415 or ext. 2416. There are no reports of injuries. Area residents should expect ongoing heavy police presence and should avoid this location. A male suspect was observed fleeing the scene in a compact white vehicle; direction of travel not known. That suspect is described as male, approx. 5'9", wearing a dark hoodie with possibly a darker coloured jacket. Suspect was seen with a black handgun. If seen, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.
