Two Oakville Nighttime Break-In Suspects Arrested
The Halton Regional Police Service have arrested two Oakville men for a nighttime break and enter crime spree.
Overnight on June 15, 2019, a residential break and enter occurred on Golden Meadow Trail, Oakville, where a 2007 Hummer SUV and numerous credit cards were stolen. The stolen credit cards were later used at several restaurants and stores in Burlington, Oakville, and Toronto. The Hummer SUV was recovered several days later in the Town of Oakville.
On June 30, 2019, another overnight break and enter occurred at a residence located on Granby Drive, Oakville. This time a wallet, purse, and a bottle of scotch whiskey were stolen. This same night, there was an unsuccessful attempt to break into a second home on the same street.
As a result of these two incidents, the Halton Regional Police Service initiated an investigation in efforts to identify the suspects responsible for these crimes. As a result of exhaustive canvassing for video and forensic examinations, investigators were able to identify Daniel Strigl (21) and Khalid Said (27), both of Oakville, as the persons responsible for the June 15, 2019 crimes. Investigators also secured evidence identifying Daniel Strigl as the persons responsible for the June 30, 2019, break-in.
On July 24, 2019, the Halton Regional Police Service arrested both Daniel Strigl and Khalid Said. Investigators also executed search warrants at both suspects' residences resulting in the seizure of evidence linking them to the June 15 and 30 crime sprees.
