Novice A, Atom AA Twisters to Advance to Championship Weekend
After a tough third round of play-offs for the Twisters, only 2 teams of the remaining 7 teams will advance to Lower Lakes Championship Weekend. Both the Novice A and Atom AA teams who earned their place after the completion of the second round will dawn the Twisters uniform on championship weekend March 29-31 in the GTA. Novice A
After a successful regular season and finishing the season as Lower Lakes Regular Season champions the Novice A team will not have it easy during championship weekend as they will have to play against the top teams from across the league. In a three game round robin style tournament the Novice A team will face the North York Storm in game 1, during the regular season the Storm finished with a record of 11-7-4, only 7 points behind the Twisters. The Twisters will then face the two East Division finalists the Whitby Wolves and the West regular season champion the Durham West Lightning. After round robin play the teams will be re-ranked, with first and second place facing off for gold and third and fourth place facing off for Bronze. All games will be played at Chesswood Arena.

Atom AA
After a successful regular season in the Atom AA West Division, the AA Twisters earned 1 of 4 spots in LLFHL Championship weekend. On route championship weekend the Twisters played in two tough rounds of play-offs. This weekend the Atom AA team will face the undefeated Stoney Creek Sabres, the Markham-Stouffville Stars who held a 20-1-1 record in the East division and the Peterborough Ice Kats who finished the regular season in third in the East division with a 12-7-3 record. The Atom AA team will not have an easy route to the championship game, and all matches should be tightly played across the two day tournament.

Atom BB vs Grand River
GM1: 0-0 tie
GM2: 2-0 loss
GM3: 1-0 loss
After finishing the regular season in second place in the Atom BB South Central Division, the Twisters fell to the Grand River Mustangs in the third round of play-offs. The Twisters fought hard but ultimately fell short after picking up a tie and 2 close losses to the Mustangs. The Atom BB team is still in the running for the OWHA Provincial title in April.
Atom B vs Stoney Creek
GM1: 1-0 loss
GM2: 0-0 tie
GM3: 0-0 tie
After a strong third round series where the Atom B Twisters picked up 2 shutouts they were held scoreless against the Stoney Creek Sabres. The Atom B team has enjoyed a great season in LLFHL play, tournaments and Playdowns. Although the Twisters will not be taking part in championship weekend you can catch them in action in April at the Provincial Championships.
Peewee A vs Clearview
GM1: 3-2 win
GM2: 3-0 loss
GM3: 4-3 OT loss
After a strong regular season where the Peewee A team finished second in the Central Division, they were eliminated in the third round by the regular season champions, the Clearview Icecats. The Peewee A team will be in action in 2 weeks when they take part in the 2019 OWHA Provincial Championships.
Peewee BB vs Kitchener
GM1: 0-0 tie
GM2: 1-0 win
GM3: 3-2 shootout loss
The Peewee BB team had a great run in the 2019 Lower Lakes Play-offs. They were able to knock off the second place Woolwich Wild in round 2, which set up a third round match up with the regular season championships, the Kitchener Lady Rangers. The Lady Rangers and Twisters seemed to be a perfect match as they finished game one with a 0-0 tie, the Twisters took home a win in game 2 and the Rangers forced a shootout in game 3 to win the series. Although the Twisters lost a heartbreaker in game 3, their season isn’t over yet as they also will be in action in the OWHA Provincial Championships.
Peewee B vs Georgina
GM1: 2-1 loss
GM2: 0-0 tie
GM3: 1-1 tie
The Peewee B Regular Season champion Twisters, took on the Georgina Golden Hawks in round 3. All season the Golden Hawks seemed to have the Twisters number as they beat the Twisters twice in the regular season and then beat the Twisters in the third round of play-offs where they picked up win and two tie. The Twisters who had a phenomenal regular season will still have a chance to redeem themselves in the 2019 Provincial Championships in April.
