Twisters Dominate Round 1 of LLFHL Play-offs

The Twisters representative teams had a busy two week in Lower Lakes Play-offs with 11 teams fighting for a spot in round 2. Nine teams including the Novice A, Atom AA, BB and B, Peewee A, BB and B teams and the Midget A and B teams, will advance to the second round of LLFHL play-offs that must be completed by March 3rd. Novice A Round 1: Bye

Next Opponent: Oakville (5-13-4) Over 6 regular season match ups with the Hornets the Twisters held an impressive 5-1-0 record outscoring Oakville 27 to 13. The Twisters will look to continue their success against the Hornets in round 2 of the play-offs.

Novice B Round 1 vs Orillia GM1: 1-1 tie GM2: 4-1 loss GM3: 4-1 loss

Atom AA Round 1 vs Etobicoke GM1: 4-0 win GM2: 5-1 win

Next opponent: Oakville (11-8-3) Over 4 regular season game against the Hornets the Atom AA team picked up a 1-1-2 record, round 2 of the play-offs is set to be a hard battle between the two rivals as all wins have come by 1 goal. Atom BB Round 1 vs St.Catherines GM1: 4-0 win GM2: 2-1 win

Next Opponent: Grand River (12-7-1) The Atom BB team will have until March 24 to complete their second round play-off games as the winner of the series will advance to the LLFHL Final Four weekend on March 29-31. The BB team will face the Grand River Mustangs who they hold a 3-0-0 record against through 3 regular season match ups, through 3 games the Twisters allowed 0 goals while picking up 6. Atom B Round 1 vs Brantford GM1: 3-0 win GM2: 1-0 win

Next Opponent: Buffalo (16-4-2) The Atom B team who has enjoyed a season of winning will play the Buffalo Bisons in round 2 of the play-offs. Through 2 regular season games Eden Boycott shutout the Bisons on route to a 2-0 and 1-0 win. The B team is looking to carry momentum from their first round series to the 2nd round.

Peewee A Round 1 vs Brampton GM1: 4-3 win GM2: 2-0 win

Next Opponent: Barrie Sharks (11-5-6) The Peewee A team is looking to pick up where they left off as they enter the second round of play-offs against the Barrie Sharks, during the regular season they split a 2 games series against the Sharks with each side taking home a 2-0 win. Game 1 of round 2 is set to begin on February 24th at Milton Sports Centre with puck drop set for 10am.

Peewee BB Round 1 vs Orangeville GM1: 0-0 tie GM2: 6-1 win GM3: 2-0 win

Next Opponent: Woolwich (12-5-5) The Bantam B team will take on second place Woolwich in round 2 of the play-offs, over 3 regular season games Woolwich seemed to have the upper hand on the Twisters with the BB team dropping 2 of 3 matches. The Twisters will have to carry momentum from round 1 into round 2 if they want to advance to round 3 later on in March.

Peewee B Round 1 vs Clearview GM1: 3-0 win GM2: 4-0 win

Next Opponent: Toronto (15-4–3) The regular season champion Peewee B Twisters will take on the fourth place Toronto Leaside Wildcats in round 2. The Twisters beat the Wildcats in both regular season match ups 2-1 and 2-0. The B team is looking to continue their regular season success as they make a run to the Lower Laker Finals.

Bantam A Round 1 vs Cambridge GM1: 1-1 tie GM2: 1-0 loss GM3: 3-1 loss

Bantam B Round 1 vs Ancaster GM1: 6-1 loss GM2: 3-3 tie GM3: 1-0 loss

Midget A Round 1 vs Cambridge GM1: 6-3 win GM2: 1-0 win

Next Opponent: Saugeen-Maitland Lightning (13-3-6) The sixth place Midget A team will face a tough second place Saugeen side in round 2 of the play-offs, the A team already upset the third place Cambridge Roadrunners in round 1 and are looking to continue their hot streak in round 2. Saugeen won the regular season series against the Midget A Twisters, which say the Twisters go 0-2-1.

Midget B Round 1 vs Norfolk GM1: 3-0 win GM2: 4-2 loss GM3: 6-1 win

Next Opponent: Flamborough Falcons (16-0-6) The fourth place Midget B Twisters have earned a date with the South Central Midget B regular season champions in round 2 of the play-offs after defeating Norfolk in game 3 of their best of 3 series. Over the regular season the Twisters met Flamborough twice dropping both games by a score of 4-1, the midget B team will have their work cut out for them if they hope to advance to round 3.
