Members of the public are reminded to be aware of vehicles that may be following them after Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) arrested and charged three individuals in relation to an attempted auto theft in Milton.
On the evening of Saturday, November 4, 2023, a Halton resident who was driving home from Toronto noticed a vehicle had been following them. When the individual parked in a driveway, masked occupants of the suspect vehicle approached the individual’s vehicle. After realizing the individual was on the phone, the suspects fled to their vehicle and drove away. The individual was on the phone with police, who were able to quickly respond to the area and successfully locate the suspect vehicle nearby.
Three individuals were arrested. A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle led to the discovery of a Winchester air pistol under the driver’s seat.
Vineet CHOPRA (20) of Toronto, Gurpreet Singh SASN (24) of Scarborough, and Mandeep SINGH (19) of Cambridge were each charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Theft of Motor Vehicle, and Disguise with Intent.
Police remind members of the public to remain vigilant while driving, and to pay particular attention to vehicles that may be following them. Should such a vehicle be observed, the public should:
- Call 9-1-1 immediately
- Provide the call taker with location, direction of travel, and detailed description of the suspect vehicle, including the suspect vehicle’s licence plate (if possible)
- Follow all directions provided by police
