The Halton Hills Public Library Announces A Series of New Morning Lectures The Halton Hills Public Library is pleased to announce the kick off of the 2019 season of the Halton Hills Lecture Series at the John Elliott Theatre. New for 2019 is the addition of a Morning Series of engaging lectures for the community. The Lecture Series, which highlights current, topical and engaging lectures, is in its third season and encourages people to discover new ideas, challenge your opinions and explore current events, in a safe and inclusive environment. As always, all lectures are FREE and tickets can be picked up at the John Elliott Theatre Box Office at 9 Church Street, Georgetown. The Morning Series kicked off on September 26 with local Meditation Instructor and Reiki Master, Chantal Garneau, who discussed the link between our environment and the mental health crisis. She also shared some nature inspired meditation techniques to maintain alertness and to keep us calm, and grounded in our daily life. Upcoming Morning Lectures include: Vision Therapy – October 23 (10 a.m.) – Dr. Laura Cookson helps us experience and understand how vision therapy helps individuals learn, relearn and reinforce specific visual skills. She will also share her stories about her optometric mission work in Jamaica, Mexico and Oklahoma. Mind The Gap – November 27 (10 a.m.) – Join Judy Maddren as she discusses her background in radio, shares true stories from real people, and the importance of recording the memoirs and memories of both the young and the old. Upcoming Evening Lectures include: Bomb Girls: Trading Aprons For Ammo – October 16 (7:30 p.m.) – A unique, intimate, and extraordinary glimpse into the lives and hearts of dedicated Canadians (mostly women) who risked their lives handling explosives for the Canadian Allied Forces.
