SUSPICIOUS DEATH IN OAKVILLE NOW CONFIRMED TO BE A HOMICIDE Results of a post-mortem examination of deceased Edmund Ferrari (91) of Oakville confirm that this incident was a homicide. A male was observed leaving the area of Allan St. and Church St. in a newer-model, 4-door, black Volkswagen Golf leaving the area of Allan Street and Church Street shortly before the discovery of the deceased. That video, as well as two stills, is attached here. Anyone with dash cam video from Allan St., Church St., Lakeshore Rd. E., Randall St., Reynolds St., Douglas Ave., and/or the general downtown Oakville area between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, is asked to contact the Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776 at the earliest opportunity. “Dash cam footage from downtown Oakville on the afternoon of Saturday, August 24 will assist the Halton Regional Police Service in piecing together what led to the tragic death of 91 y.o. Edmund Ferrari. As a result of investigation, the Halton Regional Police Service has obtained video that shows the newer-model, 4-door, black Volkswagen Golf leaving the area of Allan Street and Church Street shortly before the discovery of the deceased. That video, as well as two stills, is attached here. We would still like to speak with the male who was observed leaving the area in that Volkswagen Golf. He is described as: Male, black 30-40 years old tall (>6’ in height) Average build Shoulder-length hair Wearing a black long-sleeve hoodie, black pants, possibly with a reflective/fluorescent stripe We are appealing to members of the public who may have information about that Volkswagen Golf, or about the male who arrived in that area and left that area in that vehicle to contact our Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776. A post-mortem is scheduled for Monday, August 26, 2019. No further updates will be available for media until after the results of the post-mortem have been received. *** PREVIOUS RELEASE *** At approximately 4:40 p.m. on August 24, 2019, the Halton Regional Police Service received a call regarding an elderly male lying on the sidewalk near Allan Street and Church Street in Oakville. On arrival, police, fire and paramedics located a 91 y.o. male with obvious injuries to his chest. In spite of lifesaving efforts, the male succumbed to his injuries. Due to the nature of the victim’s injuries, the Halton Regional Police Service is treating this as a suspicious death, and the Homicide Unit is investigating. Investigators would like to speak with a male who was seen leaving the area at the time of the incident who may be a witness. He is described as: Male, black 30-40 years old Average build Shoulder-length hair Wearing a black hoodie, black pants, possibly with a reflective stripe He was seen leaving the area in a newer model, black, 4-door Volkswagen Golf, driving southbound on Allan Street and then westbound on Lakeshore Rd. Anyone with information about this incident, security camera footage, surveillance footage, or dash cam video from Allan Street, Church Street, Lakeshore Rd. E., Randall St., Reynolds St., Douglas Ave., and/or the general downtown Oakville area between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, is asked to contact the Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776 at the earliest opportunity.
