Side-Camera Technology To Be Used To Tackle Distracted Driving Front line officers in Halton Region have a new tool available to address the growing dangers of distracted driving in the community. Halton Regional Police have begun to deploy side-camera technology on their police vehicles, modernizing evidence collection practices and finding an innovative way to tackle distracted driving, which continues to be a top threat to road safety. Since January 2019, over 1000 distracted driving charges have been laid by Halton Regional Police. The public continue to identify distracted driving as a primary threat to road safety. Police are hopeful the use of side camera technology will be a game changer and that drivers will keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. This is an excellent example of our Service's commitment to Community Safety and Well-Being through the principles of risk-driven multi-sectoral collaboration to address a variety of police and community concerns.
