Shooting incident in the City of Burlington

Shooting incident in the City of Burlington On Saturday August 10, 2019 at 7:20 am, the Halton Regional Police Service received a 911 telephone call from an adult male person in relation to a complaint in regards to someone discharging a firearm. Police attended at a townhouse complex located at 895 Maple Avenue, Burlington, Ontario. This location is just south of Fairview Street and is across the road from the Mapleview Mall shopping centre. The male person reported that at approximately 4:45 am, someone had rung his doorbell several times and when he went outside he observed a passenger vehicle parked on the street. Several gunshots were fired towards the male person's direction apparently from the area behind the parked vehicle. The male person was not struck by any bullets and was not injured in this incident. He returned inside his home and believes the parked passenger vehicle then drove off onto Maple Avenue. Police located evidence that several bullets had been fired and determined two bullet holes were in a garage door belonging to the male citizen. A third bullet had struck a parked pickup truck that was parked in an adjacent neighbour's driveway. This third bullet then ricocheted into the garage door of the neighbouring townhouse unit. Police are conducting interviews in an attempt to determine the motive for this incident. This incident appears to be directly targeted to the specific male person as the culprits rang his doorbell numerous times in an attempt to have him come to the door or outside. There is some information at this time that the male person had been involved with an ongoing dispute with other persons and this appears to possibly be the motive for this targeted incident. This is a very rare occurrence in the City of Burlington and there have not been any other recent reports of firearms being discharged in this manner. There is no indication at this time that any person has been injured in this incident. There is no known connection with this current incident to a previously reported abduction incident on Glenwood School Drive in the City of Burlington on August 8, 2019. In this other unrelated incident the Halton Regional Police Service had located the abducted male person and determined that he was safe. Police are still investigating that specific incident. The Halton Regional Police Service is seeking the public's assistance for any information in relation to this shooting incident on August 10, 2019. Any persons residing in this area that may have home security camera system images or vehicle dash cam video systems for their parked vehicles are encouraged to contact police.
