Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Male who Robbed Milton Variety Store with Knife

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau is looking to identify a male party responsible for the robbery of a variety store in Milton. On Saturday, May 22, 2021 at approximately 12:30 pm, a male entered the Big Bear Variety located at 525 Ontario Street in Milton. The male was armed with a large butcher’s knife and demanded cash. The suspect fled the store on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was observed leaving the area on a bicycle. No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the incident, and there were no customers in the store at the time. The suspect is described as (see attached photos):

  • Male

  • White

  • 30-50 years of age

  • Approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds

  • Brown shoulder length hair with scruffy facial hair (under a medical mask)

  • Wearing a black baseball hat with a logo on the front, light grey long sleeve zip-up collared shirt with black trim and logo on the front chest area, brown/beige khaki pants, white shoes with a dark logo on the side

  • Carrying a black backpack

  • Walking with a slight limp

  • Riding a red mountain bike with yellow forks

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Det. Mike Maltar of the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2417. The HRPS is also appealing to anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage from the above date, time and location to contact investigators. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
