Georgetown, Ontario - A high school student has been injured following an assault incident, which has prompted heavy police presence in the area surrounding Georgetown District High School (GDHS), according to Halton Regional Police Service. The police are currently investigating the incident and no arrests have been made so far. As a precautionary measure, Holy Cross Elementary, Christ the King Secondary, and Gary Allan schools were placed under a Hold and Secure protocol. In a recent update at 4:23pm, Halton Regional Police notified the public the lockdown at GDHS had been lifted. The police have identified the suspect as a youth and are actively searching for him. The authorities believe the incident to be a targeted one. Halton Regional Police Service has requested the public's assistance in providing any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact the police immediately. Multiple reports have surfaced regarding a student being stabbed, but these reports have not been confirmed. UPDATE #2: A male, aged 17, has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. He is currently being held in custody as a young offender and awaits a bail hearing.
