On January 26, 2020, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency services responded to a serious collision involving two motor vehicles on Wellington Road 24, south-east of Hillsburgh in the Town of Erin. Initial reports indicated that two sedans had collided head-on and 3 people were injured. A local man was transported to a nearby hospital while his passenger, a local female, was transferred to a trauma centre. The lone occupant of the second sedan was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. All injuries are considered non-life-threatening. As a result of the investigation, Benjamin Mitchell MacDONALD, 19-years-old of Mono Township, has been charged with two counts of Impaired Operation cause Bodily Harm, Possession of Cocaine and Novice Driver with a Blood Alcohol Concentration above Zero. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice-Guelph on February 28, 2020. The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to please call 1-888-310-1122. Initial reports indicated that two sedans had collided and 3 people were injured. OPP, the Town of Erin Fire Department and Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service attended the scene and treated the injured. A passenger in one of the sedans, a local woman, was transferred to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two drivers were taken to a local hospital with less serious injuries. There were no other passengers involved. The road will remain closed while OPP investigate the cause.
