“Organized criminal activity such as drug trafficking undermines the very essence of safety and well-being that our communities demand and deserve. The Halton Regional Police Service embraces the opportunity to collaborate with our public safety partners to ensure that information and resources are strategically shared, and ultimately, that these erosive activities are successfully disrupted,” said Halton Regional Police Service Chief Stephen Tanner. “Certainly any time we take guns off the streets, it is a win for the residents we serve.”
“Community safety is of the utmost importance to Peel Regional Police and I commend the officers involved for their hard work and dedication in taking drugs and guns off the streets. The strong, long-lasting partnerships we have with our police counterparts encourage collaboration and ensure operations like Project Boomerang succeed. Police agencies across the GTA, and the province, are all facing the same issues. Working together is key to reducing violent crime and ensuring our community continues to be a safe place to live and work,” said Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans.
"This investigation is an excellent example of what we can achieve when we work together with our law enforcement partners. We remain committed to our shared goal of reducing the negative impacts of organized crime in our communities," stated Inspector Gord Cobey, RCMP Officer in Charge of Toronto West Serious and Organized Crime. The Project Boomerang partners would like to thank the following agencies for their investigative support and assistance over the course of the project; Toronto Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit, RCMP – O Division, Canada Border Services Agency, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, O.P.P.
