Multiple Suspected Overdoses Amongst Maplehurst Inmates

Multiple Suspected Overdoses Amongst Maplehurst Inmates ​On May 7th, at approximately 5:50 pm, Halton Police and Halton EMS responded to the Maplehurst Correctional Facility in Milton for multiple inmates requiring medical attention for suspected drug overdoses. At this time, a total of 6 male inmates were transferred to hospital for assessment with one inmate death currently being investigated. None of the 5 surviving inmates are currently in life-threatening condition. All inmates were located within the same cell block. Detectives with the 1 District Criminal Investigation Bureau have responded and are continuing to investigate in cooperation with the Coroner and Maplehurst staff. Police cannot comment at this time on the type of drug used, how it was used or how it came into the possession of the involved inmates.
