The Town of Halton Hills announced today that, although the risk is low, programs, recreation, and library facilities will close, all in an effort to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This precautionary action aligns with medical direction to practice ‘social distancing’ and avoid large gatherings. “The Town has been following all recommended procedures per the direction of the Medical Officer of Health and Halton Region’s Public Health Department,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “The decision to close our facilities is consistent with our area municipal partners and supports our efforts to safeguard the community.” Effective March 14, the following facilities will be closed and all programs will be cancelled until further notice: • Acton Arena and Community Centre • Mold-Masters Sportsplex • Gellert Community Centre • Cultural Centre and John Elliott Theatre • Hillsview Active Living Centres (Georgetown and Acton) • Halton Hills Youth Centres (Georgetown and Acton) • Acton Lions and Georgetown Indoor Pools • Georgetown and Acton Libraries.
