Milton Teen Praised for Honesty

Milton Teen Praised for Honesty Halton Regional Police are praising the honesty of a Milton teen for turning over a large sum of cash she found on the ground on Saturday evening. The 17 year old girl was walking in the Derry Road and Trudeau Drive area of Milton when she noticed a package on the ground. Upon inspection she discovered that the bag contained several bank deposit envelopes with thousands of dollars in cash inside. It was apparent that the deposit envelopes were from a local business. The teen promptly brought the cash to the local police division. Using police resources, officers were able to contact a representative of the business and return the money. The deposit envelopes had been inadvertently dropped by an employee. It is acts of honestly and civic duty like this that replenishes faith in the good-hearted nature of the majority of youth in our community. Halton Regional Police acknowledges this young woman and commends her for her honesty and integrity. NOTE: At this time we will not be releasing the identity of the teen or the involved business. CLARIFICATION Further to our media release of February 9, 2020 regarding the discovery of a bag in Milton containing cash and cheques, we have been asked by the business owner to provide clarification that the bag contained predominantly cheques, and that limited cash is kept on the premises. Per that original media release, the Halton Regional Police Service is not identifying the teen, nor the involved business.
