March Break – Yay or Nay?

Ontario’s Education Minister, Stephen Lecce was joined today by Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Christine Elliott and Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Williams, announcing the province’s plan for March Break. Lecce announced that “Ontario is postponing March Break until the week of April 12” to limit community transmission stating that it is of the “upmost importance that we not travel at this time” He reaffirmed that “nothing matters more than health and safety of our students” He highlighted the additional safety measures in place in schools now since students returned including better masks, kids in grades 1-3 being required to wear masks now, and the availability of asymptomatic testing for schools. Dr. Williams said the province’s top priority is getting children “in the school, keep them there and keep them safe.”
