Man arrested following a carjacking in Oakville The Halton Police are currently conducting an investigation following a carjacking in Oakville. On Tuesday July 30th 2019, shortly before 7:30 p.m., a female contacted police and indicated she had her vehicle stolen at gun point by an unknown male. This occurred in the area of Royal Windsor Drive and Cornwall Road in Oakville. Approximately 30 minutes earlier, police believe this same male suspect was involved in an attempt theft of a vehicle from a Petro Canada on Royal Windsor Drive. Members of the Halton Police and Peel Police attended the area and the stolen vehicle was later located in the area of Dundas Street and Winston Churchill Boulevard. The male suspect abandoned the vehicle in a commercial parking lot at Dundas Street and Woodchester Drive in Mississauga, where he attempted to steal a third vehicle. It was at this time; the male suspect was located by members of the Peel Police and arrested after a short standoff. The firearm used during this incident has been recovered. One victim did sustain a small laceration to his face as a result of his interaction with the male suspect. There were no other injuries during this incident and there are no current public safety concerns. This investigation is ongoing and an addition release will be issued.
