Trick or Treat? It’s that time of year again, and this year, people have replaced their covid masks for something more festive, whether super heroes, or their favourite scary movie character. The town of Acton has loads to do this halloween, here are just some of the events listed chronologically for you to enjoy.
Cody’s Cows Haunted Hay Ride - October 21 - 30
Cody’s Cows Haunted Hay Ride takes you on a horrific trip through the fields at Maltby Stables. The hay ride is also followed up with a haunted forest walk which is included in the price. There is still some availability for Saturday and Sunday night. For more information go to their Facebook Page.
Tommy’s Bar and Grill Halloween Haunt Party October 28
Tommy’s Bar and Grill in Downtown Acton is hosting a Halloween Haunt Party. The event will feature music by BBCY featuring Matthew Bunt (@Wicked Truth), Ken Baker (@Crazy Chester), Josh Young (@The Electric Merchants), and Jason Cole (of no fixed address). Downtown trick or Treat October 29, 12PM - 2PM
Downtown Acton will be hosting its annual ghost walk. Youth from in and around Acton are invited to come and trick or treat at local business. Brittany Sedore, Manager of the Acton BIA tells Acton UP “Downtown Acton is excited to host our Trick or Treat on Main Mill again this year. The Annual Royal LePage Escarpment Pumpkin Giveaway Oct 29, 10am-2pm
Acton’s Favourite Realtor and Royal LePage Escarpment are hosting their annual pumpkin giveaway. Sarah Brophy-Platts tells Acton UP “ We at Royal LePage Escarpment absolutely love getting into the Halloween Spirit and celebrating this time of year with the community. Our Pumpkin Giveaway that runs alongside the Trick or Treat at Main & Mill downtown Acton brings out so many in the community!! Last year was an extraordinary year, partnering with Food for Life, we gave away more than 300 pumpkins. This year, again with Food for Life, we look forward to giving away not only pumpkins but also candy apples!! 1st Acton Scouts Haunted House October 29
1st Acton Scouts are also hosting a haunted house which will run concurrently with Downtown Acton’s Trick or Treat on Main and Mill (Ghostwalk). Scouter Shannon tells Acton UP, “We (scouts) have been working very hard and practicing for weeks, we’ve made several improvements and have been having so much fun testing the Scareport out for our Acton Beavers and Cub Scouts!
We are trying to raise funds for Camping, materials and other fun activities, so we are hoping for donations! We have our Haunted Scareport (airport), axe throwing with a professional adult guide, a 50/50 draw ($2 for 1 or $5 for 3) and we will have a Bouncy Castle! Lots and lots of fun to be had! We are located beside the Acton library on School Lane. We will be there from 12pm to 2 but might run later depending on how busy we get and how exhausted our scouts might be! They really are a great group of kids and are so very excited to put on a show for everyone!”
The Acton Scout House is located at School Lane in Acton just by Robert Little School across from the library front entrance.
TDI Haunted House October 29
TDI will be going the extra mile participating in Downtown Acton’s Ghost walk hosting their very own haunted house. Walk through our Haunted Graveyard where you might find cursed witches, zombies, clowns and other scary sights from your nightmares! Wear your costumes and be prepared for some spooky fun. Meagan Speakman, Owner of TDI tells Acton UP, “We are so excited to bring our annual Haunted House back to the town in person. Last year, we hosted a virtual version but cannot wait to actually walk everyone through this year like we have many years before. For those who like a good scare, we will see you on Saturday afternoon!”
Acton Town Hall Halloween Dance October 29, 7PM-12AM
The Rotary Club of Acton will be hosting a Halloween Dance, this event will feature food, a 50/50 draw, and four bands including Denise Fex, The 2 Dollar Bills, Evensong and Dorset Park Band. There is no cover fee but the Rotary Club is hoping attendees will make an in-kind donation to the Townsend Smith Foundation who is building a hospice in Halton. Kevin Hazzard who championed the event tells Acton UP, “this will be a time to have fun, show off your costume and come together with community to support this endeavour. There are no ticket sales and a free-will offering is provided. Beer, wine, and food will all be offered. There will also be a 50/50 draw and there are no age restrictions.”
Pumpkin Promenade - November 1, 6:30-8:30PM
Acton’s Favourite Realtor Sarah Brophy-Platts and Royal LePage Escarpment are also hosting their annual Pumpkin Promenade on the Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead). Come bring your carved pumpkins to be displayed out front of the Acton Town Hall. Following the event the pumpkins are donated as feed for the animals at Cody’s Cows. Sarah Brophy-Platts tells Acton UP, “The Pumpkin Promenade is so near and dear to my heart!! Working with Chris Cassey & Carolyn Elston to bring this event to life, it's so much fun to give the town’s jack-o-lanterns one last show. Last year we lined up almost 500 Pumpkins, handed out 350 fresh made Churros & Hit Chocolate for the community to enjoy.”
