In celebration of Paramedic Services Week, Halton Region is hosting a unique and interactive event to honour its local paramedics and educate the community on their critical roles. The "Paramedic Day" event will take place on Saturday, May 27, at the Woodlands Operations Centre, rain or shine, offering an immersive experience for the whole family.

This day-long event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., promises a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the life of a paramedic in Halton. Attendees will get to meet and interact with the paramedics who tirelessly serve their community. The day is set to be packed with engaging activities ranging from exploring emergency vehicles, trying on tactical equipment, learning about CPR, and direct interactions with paramedic team members.

Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr highlighted the importance of this occasion, saying, “I am proud of all of the hard work our paramedics do each day to keep our community safe and healthy." He went on to praise them for their round-the-clock availability, providing life-saving treatment and constant care, as well as their efforts in community education programs.

Halton’s Paramedic Services team receives more than 55,000 calls annually, operating from 15 ambulance stations spread across the region. They have successfully transported more than 35,000 patients each year, offering pre-hospital care to residents in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.

The event will also underscore the role of Halton’s Paramedics in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. They were instrumental in the Region’s response, including providing support to local long-term care and retirement homes, facilitating mobile testing, and maintaining emergency responses in the community. Paramedic Day, therefore, is an occasion to pay tribute and learn more about the crucial roles paramedics play in everyday life.
