The Halton District School Board will be hosting its 2022 For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics kickoff on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at Craig Kielburger Secondary School (1155 Ferguson Drive, Milton).

Students compete to build their own robots, demonstrating their engineering skills and knowledge. This year the HDSB has eight teams competing: Burlington Central 2386, Craig Kielburger 4992, Garth Webb 5409, Georgetown District 4976, M.M. Robinson 2200, Milton District 3571, Oakville Trafalgar 1374 and Oakville Trafalgar 1334.

The teams will have seven weeks to build their team’s robot before taking it to competitions across North America.

“FIRST is worldwide and their vision is to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders, to advance STEM education,” says Wade Richardson, OYAP, Pathways and Technological Education lead with the Halton District School Board.
