The Halton Regional Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a firearm that was inadvertently left on the rear cover of a pickup truck on November 1, 2021. The owner self-reported the mishap after reaching his destination and realized the firearm was missing. It is believed the firearm fell off the vehicle between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. The owner travelled along Poplar Ave to Maria St, west on Church St. E and north on Main St. N to Wallace St. in Acton, Ont. From Wallace St. the owner continued travelling onto MacDonald Blvd. to Churchill Rd N, and then to No. 32 Sideroad. Officers searched the route the owner drove, but were unable to locate the firearm, a Remington 783 rifle. The rifle was unloaded, and inside a camouflage case, with no accompanying ammunition. Police ask that if the firearm is located by a member of the public, do not handle it and call 911 immediately.
