First students learn bus safety with First Student
It’s hard to say it, but it seems summer has come to end. But with every end comes a new start, and for students, that means a new school year.On Saturday the August 26th first time students were given the opportunity to ride a bus for the first time and learn bus safety with First Student employees who formerly worked with Tyler Transport.
Amongst things learned were…
Stay out of the “danger zone”: The danger zone is the place where the bus does not have visibility. Students are reminded to stay out of this area.
Sit on the bus: Students are reminded to stay seated on the bus.
Be quiet on the bus: Students were reminded to behave well on the bus and be quiet so the bus driver can hear oncoming hazards.Wait for your parents or guardians: Students and parents learned about being at the bus stop to pick up their children. They were also told young students who did not have a guardian present would be driven back to the school for their parents to pick them up.Wait for your parents or guardians: Students and parents learned about being at the bus stop to pick up their children. Angela Tyler, Operations Supervisor for First Student Inc. said
“ Every day over 30,000 students are transported in Halton region by school bus. First rider day is an amazing program to help our young riders integrate to the next step of their lives. Just like in the classroom, we support student learning, this time though, to provide the information to them on riding the school bus safely. Our primary goal is to provide safe student transportation.”
