Fatal Fire in Georgetown


The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating a fatal fire in Georgetown.


On Wednesday February 7, 2024, at approximately 5:20 am, police were called to a residential home on Victoria Street in Georgetown. At the time of police arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to a neighbouring address.


Neighbouring homes were evacuated by police and the fire was extinguished by the Halton Hills Fire Department.


Tragically, an adult female occupant of the primary residence was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police will not be identifying the woman at this time. No other occupants were found in the home and no further injuries were reported to police.


Members of the Halton Regional Police Criminal Investigations Branch and Major Crime Bureau are currently investigating the circumstances of this incident.
