Council endorses Corporate Technology strategic plan.
Halton Hills Council recently endorsed the Town’s Corporate Technology Strategic Plan that, according to a release, “looked at the progress the Town has made and the investments still required to maintain and enhance service delivery”.
Halton Hills’ Commissioner of Corporate Services echoed the sentiments of Council when he said, “As noted by Bill Gates, information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don’t think anybody can talk meaningfully about one with talking about the other.”
The plan takes a look at the way the Town is delivering programs and how they can improve them through better use of information technology. The results so far, have been put together by a consultant who “conducted interviews, reviewed best practices, looked at municipal comparators and identified opportunities and deficiencies”.
“It’s Council’s job to weigh options, understand impacts and make decisions,” said Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette. “Over the years, we have been investing in our technology infrastructure and improving our processes. This plan is just the next big step to move us forward.”
Funding recommendations for the Strategy will be brought forward as part of the 2019 budget deliberations.
