HALTON HILLS, ON/ April 27, 2022 – The Halton Hills Public Library (HHPL) invites the community to celebrate the opening of the new Acton Reading Deck on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 17 River Street, Acton.
This bright, outdoor space is fully accessible from inside the Acton Branch providing the public with a place to sit, read, study, play, converse and relax in an enjoyable library oasis. Bench seating and chairs will be available, with tables arriving later this year.
The Acton Reading Deck opening is happening along with Global Big Day (an annual celebration of birds). Celebrate by meeting the Conservation Halton Mountsberg Raptor Centre Birds of Prey, enjoying a family Storywalk®, trying out a creative Cricut activity and bird watching from the Reading Deck. Say hello to sponsors of the deck while enjoying light music and cookies (first come, first served). There will be something for everyone!
HHPL thanks the Friends of the Halton Hills Public Library and The Town of Halton Hills Accessibility Committee for their support in making this unique space possible.
“We are excited to share this new, outdoor reading deck with the community,” says Melanie Southern, Chief Librarian and CEO. “Halton Hills Public Library provides accessible, welcoming and inclusive spaces for everyone, and this outdoor space offers an enjoyable escape in a natural setting.”
