Bantam B Twisters Golden in Orangeville Last weekend the Bantam B Twisters headed North on highway 10 to take part in the 40th annual Orangeville Tigers Sweetheart Tournament. The Bantam B team had an impressive record of 5-0-0 through all tournament games where they picked up an impressive 16 goals for and only allowed 3 thanks to goaltender Giulia Cirillo, who recorded 2 shutouts and posted three, one goal games. The Twisters started the tournament strong with a 2-1 win over the host Orangeville Tigers, later on Friday afternoon the Twisters dominated the Ilderton Jets taking the game 8-0. In the final game of round robin play the Twisters took on a strong Grand River Team who they would later face in the championship game. In the semi-final match up the Bantam B team took on the Niagara Falls Rapids where they skated to a 3-1 win. The championship game was a tightly matched game but the Twisters ultimately ended up on top defeating Grand River 2-1 in the finals. The coaching staff of the Bantam B team would like to recognize Lily McLaughlin as their tournament MVP, McLaughlin scored keys goals and stood out as the most sportsmanlike player to the Twisters coaching staff by keeping calm while enduring many hooks and slashes throughout the tournament. The Bantam B team has posted a strong record of 9-1-2 through the month of January and are looking to continue their hot streak as they enter the post season. Tournament Scoreboard - Bantam B GM1: 2-1 win vs Orangeville GM2: 8-0 win vs Ilderton GM3: 1-0 win vs Grand River Semis: 3-1 win vs Niagara Falls Finals: 2-1 win vs Grand River Novice A (15-4-3) The Novice A team has skated a great season thus far in the LLFHL. The A team finished first overall in the West Division and earned a much deserved bye to the second round of the playoffs where they will face either the Aurora Panthers or the Oakville Hornets after they compete in round 1. Novice B (5-16-1) The Novice B team finished in sixth overall in the North Central Division. The B team has some up and downs and will face the Barrie Sharks in round 1 of the play-offs. Atom AA (13-5-3) The Atom AA team finished the regular season in second place in the West division with 30 points, 14 points behind first place Stoney Creek Sabres. The AA team will face Etobicoke in the first round of the playoffs. Head to head the Twisters have a record of 4-0-0 and are looking to continue their hot streak against Etobicoke in round 1. Atom BB (12-4-6) The Atom BB team finished the regular season in second place in the South Central Division. The BB team picked up 30 points and will face the St.Catherines Brock Jr Badgers in round 1 of the playoffs, head to head the Twisters have the upper hand holding a 2-0-1 record with the Badgers. Atom B (14-5-3) Heading into the play-offs the Atom B team has been riding a tremendous season. The B team is looking to add more hardware to their record heading into the post season. The team finished the regular season in third place of the South Central division and will face the Brantford Ice Cats in round 1 of the playoffs. Peewee A (13-2-7) The peewee A team had a terrific regular season finishing in second overall of the Central Division behind the Clearview Icecats. The A team will face the North York Storm or the Brampton Canadettes in round 1 of the play-offs depending on the out come of North Yorks final regular season game on Tuesday night. Peewee BB (12-6-4) The Peewee BB team finished the regular season third overall in the Central division with 28 points, one point behind the second place Woolwich Wild. The Twisters will take a home ice advantage into round 1 of the play-play-offs where they will face rivals, the Orangeville Tigers in a best of three series. Peewee B (18-2-1) The Peewee B team currently sits in second place in the Central division with 1 game remaining. If the B team picks up a win to a tie on Tuesday evening they will move into 1st place overall. The B teams opponent for the first round of the playoffs will be either the Barrie Sharks or the Clearview Icecats. Bantam A (7-10-5) The Bantam A team enjoyed a season of many wins, they earned a gold medal in the Pittsburgh Penguins elite tournament and finished sixth overall in LLFHL play. The Twisters will start their playoff run on the road as they face the Kitchener Lady Rangers in round 1. Bantam B (9-7-4) The Bantam B Twisters currently sit in sixth place overall with 2 game remaining. The final standings will not determined until the rest of the South Central division finishes their regular season this week. The play-off bracket will not be determined until all teams have finished the 22 game regular season with the teams so close together in the standings. Midget AA (2-11-9) The Midget AA Twisters finished tenth overall in the South Central division, 2 spots out of the play-off picture. Although the Midget AA teams hopes of advancing to the LLFHL play-offs are now out of the picture the AA team will now shift their focus to the OWHA Provincial Play-downs where they hope to advance to the provincial Championships in April. Midget A (4-12-5) The Midget A team currently sits in sixth place overall in the Central West Division. The A team has 1 regular season game remaining, but the play-off picture has already been set with the Twisters starting the play-offs on the road against the Cambridge Roadrunners, Midget B (12-9-1) The Midget B team finished the regular season in fourth place of the South Central Division. The B team will face the Norfolk Hericanes with a home ice advantage in round 1 of the LLFHL play-offs
