Bantam A Twisters Skate Phenomenal Season
This season, the North Halton Twisters had two Bantam A teams. Bantam A MacDonald skated to a phenomenal season finishing with a 20-1-1 record topping the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Central division. The Twisters lone tie was a scoreless game against the Brampton Canadettes, and their lone loss came to the Mississauga Hurricanes.
During the Twisters run to the top, they were back stopped by goaltenders Kayla Costintini and Nikki Deschenes who picked up a combined 11 shutouts through 22 games. Costintini and Deschenes allowed a combined 18 goals while the rest of the team found the back of the net 87 times throughout the season. On average the Twisters scored 3.95 goals per game while only allowing 0.82 goals per game.
When comparing the Bantam A team to the other five divisions in the league they finished with the best record, meaning they held a better record than 45 other Bantam A teams across Ontario.
In tournament play, the Twisters picked up 4 medals. One medal in each tournament they have entered thus far. In early September they entered the North Halton Rush tournament where they finished as tournament finalists picking up their first medal of the year. The Bantam A team then went on to pick up three gold medals in Lake Placid, Clearview, and most recently the Aurora Silver Stick tournament in early February.
The Bantam A team is currently facing the Vaughan Flames in the first round of the play-offs where they lead the series 1-0 after picking up a 5-1 win on Thursday evening. The Bantam A team is looking to sweep the series as they head to Vaughan on Sunday morning. The winner of the series will face the winner of the Brampton and North York series.
The Bantam A team will also be looking for a OWHA Provincial birth in the upcoming weeks. The Twisters will play a best of three series with the Brampton Canadettes with games scheduled to start Saturday February 29th. The winner of the best of three series will move on to the Ontario Provincial Championships.
