Atom B Twisters Victorious in Waterloo

Atom B Twisters Victorious in Waterloo

Last week in Twister action the Midget AA team travelled across the boarder to take part in the Buffalo Inferno Rush Tournament. The Midget AA team who recently returned from a trip to the United States once again headed back, this time with a few more tricks up their sleeves. The round robin saw the Midget AA team play against teams from both sides of the boarder including, Buffalo, Chicago, Clarington and Peterborough. In round robin play the Twisters finished with a 3-0-1 record to advance to the semi-final game where they unfortunately did not have the luck needed to defeat the Buffalo Regals losing a heart breaker 4-3. The Midget AA team will now head home where they will continue their strong start to the 2018/19 season.

In Novice news, the A team travelled to the Waterloo Challenge Cup where they tried to defend their tournament title from last season. The Novice A team had a very successful tournament finishing with a record of 4-0-0 on route the playoff round, where they unfortunately fell short of the championship game losing to a strong Whitby side 5-3 in the semi-finals. Next week the Novice A team will continue to play on the road as they look to bounce back against the North York Storm on November 9th at 6:30pm. In Atom news, the B team also travelled to the Waterloo Challenge Cup where they finished with a 2-0-1 record though the preliminary round. They would then go on to the semi-final match where they picked up a solid 2-1 win over the Cold-Creek Comets on route the championship game Sunday afternoon. In the championship game the B team was victorious defeating the Waterloo Ravens 2-1 in a tightly matched game that ended in a shootout.

This week a special congratulations is in order to Twisters Atom B goaltender Eden Boycott who was named the best goaltender of the Atom B division at the Waterloo tournament after only allowing 2 goals against and picking up 2 shutouts along with a shootout win in the championship game! Congratulations Eden on a well deserved MVP award in Waterloo! Next week the Midget AA Twisters will take on Team China in Game 1 of the 2 game series on November 10th at Vaughan Sports Village with puck drop set for 7:30pm. Game 2 of the series will take place on Saturday November 16 at Mold-Masters Sportsplex in Georgetown with puck drop scheduled for 7:15pm. Next weekends tournament action will see both the Peewee BB and Midget B teams will travel to Detroit to take part in the CCM World Invite tournament starting on November 9th and finishing on the 11th.
