Arson Charge for Halton Hills Man
Halton Police have charged a Halton Hills man with Arson in connection to a vehicle fire late Thursday evening.
Shortly before midnight, a rural Halton Hills resident on Fourth Line called the fire department and police when she noticed her
2010 Ford Flex SUV was on fire on her driveway. Responding crews extinguished the fire but it was completely gutted by the flames.
Responding officers found a male walking away from the fire scene. Following an investigation into the circumstances, the male was arrested for arson. Furthermore, this male turned out to be the adult grandson of the owner of the SUV. Police are still investigating the motive behind the arson.
There were no injuries. Although the fire was started in an isolated area of the driveway, there was a danger posed to the nearby dwelling after the gas tank exploded and flames came precariously close to the home.
Charged with one count of arson and one count of failing to comply with a recognizance is Kenneth Hume, 32, of Halton Hills. He was held for bail and is expected to make an appearance in Milton court this morning.
