Anonymous Crime Stoppers tips lead to multiple arrests

Anonymous Crime Stoppers tips lead to multiple arrests Crime Stoppers of Halton wishes to acknowledge and thank residents who have submitted tips to the program so far this year. David Wood, director of Halton Crime Stoppers, summed up the year-to-date statistics. "The success of the Crime Stoppers program in Halton Region is the direct result of the involvement of our community. When residents anonymously submit detailed tips to the program, Halton Police actively investigate and those investigations often result in criminals off the street and out of our communities," Wood said. Through June, Halton Crime Stoppers processed over 600 tips, leading to 26 arrests, 66 charges laid, and 2 fugitives captured. Furthermore, those tips led to the recovery of stolen cash and property including six vehicles, and the seizure of narcotics destined for our streets. "Halton Crime Stoppers is proud of the results and of our ability to offer cash rewards of up $2,000 for tips that lead to an arrest," Wood Said. "So far this year, Halton Crime Stoppers has approved 24 rewards totaling over $6,000. Tips can be submitted to Halton Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.haltoncrimestoppers.com.
