Halton Hills, ON - The Town of Halton Hills is now accepting applications for its "Al Fresco in the Hills" program, the outdoor dining initiative designed to support local restaurants, bars, and other food and drink establishments in expanding dining capacity while adhering to public health regulations and COVID-19 safety guidelines.

“We were pleased to initiate the Al Fresco in the Hills program last year as a means to support our local food establishments throughout the pandemic,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “This industry in particular faced hardship so I was pleased to see so many businesses participating in this program. I’m a big proponent of supporting local businesses and I can tell you that our restaurants have done a great job to continue serving the community while adhering to restrictions and keeping residents safe.”

Al Fresco in the Hills was initially launched in June 2020 to allow for temporary patios to provide new or additional seating opportunities for local eating establishments until January 1, 2021. The program was suspended for the winter months and is now relaunching for the 2021 patio season. Temporary patios will be permitted until January 31, 2022. To apply, please contact the Town’s Clerk at: valeriep@haltonhills.ca

On February 16, 2021, Halton Region entered the Red/Control level of the Province of Ontario’s COVID-19 Response Framework. Under the Red/Control level, restaurants, bars, and other food and drink establishments can open for dining in outdoor areas, such as patios, curbside, parking lots, and adjacent premises. Indoor dining is also permitted with a current capacity limit of 10 patrons (four per table) and where physical distancing can be maintained.
