Acton appears to have had a starring role as a setting in a new motion picture. The working title of the film, ‘Desire of the Prey’ is written and directed by Filmmaker, Carly May Borgstrom, who is known for her 2016 short film A White Bright Light and her 2015 feature film The Bicycle.
The production for the German film, which includes around 60 cast and crew, took place in familiar areas throughout Halton Hills and Brampton. Areas such as Tommy’s Bar and Grill, Limehouse, and forest scenery throughout Halton Hills. Though the movie is not a ‘horror’ movie, as mentioned in a local Facebook group, the movie does include a monster.
According to ‘Desire of the Prey’ source, Kate Parkes, Manager of Publicity and Promotions for Elevation Pictures, the films synopsis is as follows,
“After a young girl is found dead in a secluded mountain community, a pack of teenage girls decide to fight the monster that killed her by embracing their own dark nature.”
Parkes also shares,
The film is a “coming of age, woman empowerment, thriller”, and that the filming will take place for about “one and a half weeks around Halton Hills and Brampton.”
Strict covid protocols were in place for the filming with rapid antigen tests required for anyone who came on set.
There is not much information regarding the plot of the movie currently, however, locals are excited to see the post-production outcome of the film when it is complete.
