Acton Farmers' Market on the Move?

Acton Farmer’s Market on the Move?

In an email distributed by Alex Hilson, Acton BIA Coordinator, to previous Acton Farmers' Market vendors, it appears the market may be moving to Prospect Park for 2020.

“The selling feature of this year's market is the new location as we have applied for a permit to use Acton's very own Prospect Park as the home to this year's Farmers' Market” the email states. The reasons given for the move include:

  • Vendor concerns over the 2019 location

  • Ample parking

  • Picturesque views, and

  • Crossover markets like the splashpad and ball diamonds

Another concern being addressed is marketing. Much of the signage and materials from last year are reusable which leaves room in this year’s budget for some additional signage for a larger area of town directing traffic to the market. There will also be social media marketing and a public calendar outlining which vendors will be attending each week.

Acton UP contacted Ben Rowley, Acton BIA student, who would only say “We aren’t commenting before we know for sure”. Permit resolution is expected by the end of the month.

Wherever it’s held, the Acton Farmers' Market will continue to be on Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. The season opens June 4 and closes October 8.

What would you think if Prospect Park was the Farmers' Market's new location?
