Post-pandemic performance marks a new chapter for the school.
Acton, Ontario - Acton District School proudly announces their theatrical comeback with the upcoming production of "The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood," scheduled for May 10th, 11th, and 12th at 7 pm. The play marks the school's first venture into theatre since the COVID-19 pandemic and the school's recent transition from serving grades 7-12.
Jennifer Ross, a veteran drama teacher with 23 years at Acton High and 21 years teaching drama, is leading the production. Ross acknowledged the challenges faced in bringing the play to fruition, citing costume making, stage building, and scheduling. "We are finding it a bit of a challenge because it has been a while since we have done this," she said. Despite these challenges, the school's faculty and students are eager to share their production with the community.
The play promises a night of laughter and entertainment, with a “whimsical take on the classic Robin Hood story”. Featuring 16 students on stage and another 16 working backstage, the production is set to highlight the talent and resilience of Acton District School's teachers and young performers.
Jennifer Ross encourages the community to attend and show their support. "Come support the school, you will have a good time," she said. "It's a silly play, and we try to play up the audience interaction. There's dance numbers, there is singing. I think the audience will have a very good time."
Tickets for "The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood" are priced at $15 and can be purchased on the school's website or at the door. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate the return of live theatre and support the dedicated students of Acton District School.
