On July 21'st 25 Artists met in Prospect Park In Acton Ontario for the Helson Gallery's Plein Air Painting Challenge. Artists set up around Acton, Ontario to see who had the best piece of art.
Each artist had only 3 hours to complete their piece, and the results were outstanding.
Artists came from all over, including Halton Hills, Oakville, Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, Guelph and even upstate New York. The show was adjudicated by Steve Wilson, an artist, teacher and a member of the Ontario Society of Artists
Prizes were awarded to the following.
First Prize: William Band (Acton)
Second Prize: Ann Tin (Mississauga)
Third Prize: Michelle Chen (Mississauga)
Honorable Mention: Eva Omes (Georgetown)
Honorable Mention: Ylli Haruni (Niagara Falls NY)
Peoples' Choice: Ylli Haruni (Niagara Falls NY)
Prizes were generously sponsored by: Bruce Andrews; Brian and Heather Ayer; Heather Muir Beecroft; Dale and Dave Cox and Barbara Mitchell. Two artists sold their paintings (the first prize winner sold).
The Helson Gallery was "pretty encouraged by the response and would consider holding it in Acton again next year -- date TBD but we generally aim for July or August."
