Region of Peel – Officers with the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a 16 year-old young offender for possessing a loaded handgun, ammunition and a laser sight.
On Monday, February 17th, 2020 at approximately 9:00 p.m. officers with Peel Regional Police arrested a 16 year-old young offender during a traffic stop in the area of Airport Road and Highway 409 in the City of Mississauga. The young offender was found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a quantity of ammunition. At approximately 10:00 p.m. a search warrant was executed at a residence in the City of Bolton where additional rounds of ammunition and a laser sight were seized.
The accused young offender was charged with five firearm related offences and one count of Fail to Comply with Recognizance.
The accused young offender was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected
